10:07 / 2024-05-08

According to the document, the FAO Office in Uzbekistan, in collaboration with the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change and the Ministry of Agriculture, has outlined the implementation of the project “Assessing the impact of food systems on land use and land restoration in Uzbekistan”.

The project aims to introduce best practices and innovations to create sustainable and inclusive production landscapes. The project also aims to provide improved ecosystem services to restore ecosystems in production landscapes and support agriculture for global environmental benefits, increasing biodiversity across the country.

As a result of the project, it is planned to increase the area of landscapes to 50,000 hectares through advanced technologies for sustainable food production on an area of 350,000 hectares of irrigated land throughout the country, as well as effective management and their rational use.

The project also aims to improve the global environment by conserving and restoring ecosystems in production landscapes and providing equitable support for agriculture.
