Amir Temur Mausoleum is the best example of 15th-century architecture
It follows from historical sources that the grandson of the great commander Muhammad Sultan Mirzo built a madrasah in the town of Toshkurgon-Chakar on the eastern part of the Samarkand fortress. Subsequently, after the tragic death of Muhammad Sultan in 1403, Amir Temur ordered the construction of a mausoleum in memory of him. The structure was built in the middle of the courtyard of the madrasah, created by Muhammad Sultan.
Only the building of the shrine and the columned gate in front of it have been preserved to this day. As a result of archaeological excavations near the mausoleum, fragments of a madrasah building and a prayer room were found. According to reports, after the death of Amir Temur, the construction of this complex was completed by his grandson, the ruler of Samarkand Mirzo Ulugbek.
Amir Temur, his spiritual mentor Mir Said Baraka, the commander's sons Umar Sheikh, Miranshakh and Shahrukh, grandsons Muhammad Sultan, Ulugbek and others are buried in the shrine.
