The Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with journalists from the United States.
The event was timed to coincide with the completion of the visit to Uzbekistan by Forbes journalist Melik Kaylan, member of the New York City Council, journalist Ari Kagan, independent journalist Isaakson Andy Samuel and the Editor-in-Chief of the Bukharian Times Rafael Nektalov.
At the meeting with the participation of the leadership of the Committee, representatives of Uzbekistan – United States Friendship Society, information was provided about the work carried out in Uzbekistan to strengthen interethnic relations and friendly ties with foreign countries, about the activities of the Committee. It was noted that 152 national cultural centers and 36 friendship societies of Uzbekistan with foreign countries are successfully operating.
It was noted that in recent years, activities in socio-political, cultural-humanitarian spheres have been carried out. Non-governmental organizations of the compatriots in the United States, such as the Congress of Buckaarian Jews of the USA and Canada, Uzbek American Association of Chicago, Atlanta Uzbek Community, Seattle-Tashkent Sister City Association, are effectively operating.
The guests also visited Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Kokand and participated in the festive events on the occasion of Uzbekistan’s Independence Day.
Journalists from the United States shared their impressions about Uzbekistan and noted that the strategic relations between Uzbekistan and the United States have been steadily developing in recent years. Uzbekistan’s policy of interethnic tolerance is highly appreciated at the international level.
