At the headquarters of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), its Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili received a certificate of accreditation of the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Spain Farrukh Tursunov as the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UNWTO.

The parties exchanged views on the current state and prospects of further cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNWTO. Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili once again expressed his great gratitude to the leadership of Uzbekistan for organizing the 25th Session of the UNWTO General Assembly in Samarkand in October 2023 and holding it at the highest level.

At the meeting, special attention was paid to the initiatives of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev put forward during the session. It was noted that Uzbekistan is the most active member of the UNWTO. The adoption by the UN General Assembly of a resolution initiated by Uzbekistan on declaring 2027 the International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism deserves high praise.

Following the meeting, UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili expressed hope for the successful implementation of the resolution and the active participation of all participating countries in implementing measures to promote sustainable and viable tourism.
