Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Italy Otabek Akbarov presented his credentials to the FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu as Permanent Representative of the country.

Due to the restrictions in force because of the coronavirus pandemic in Italy, the ceremony was held via videoconference.

It was emphasized that a roadmap was adopted, aimed at further enhancing and intensifying cooperation between Uzbekistan and the FAO, including the successful implementation of the country’s chairmanship in the Regional Conference for Europe in 2021-2022.

The FAO Director-General highly appreciated the actively developing interaction of the organization with Uzbekistan in recent years. He emphasized that FAO considers Uzbekistan as a key country in the region and capable of ensuring its dynamic and sustainable development, as well as making a worthy contribution to ensuring global food security.
