Ambassador of Uzbekistan meets with the Vice-Minister of Finance of Japan

Ambassador of Uzbekistan Mukhsinkhoja Abdurakhmanov held talks with the Vice-Minister of Finance of Japan Oie Satoshi.

The parties discussed issues of cooperation and the results achieved over the 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The head of the diplomatic mission expressed gratitude for the comprehensive support provided by the Government of Japan to finance structural reforms in Uzbekistan, major investment projects and budget support during the pandemic.

In 2021, Japan allocated $137.4 million of credit funds to strengthen the economy affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. From 1993 to 2021, JICA provided concessional loans for over $3 billion for the implementation of major investment projects.

Oie Satoshi stressed that Uzbekistan is an important strategic partner in Central Asia and the Japanese Government attaches great importance to the expansion and strengthening of partnership. Japan always strives to develop cooperation with Uzbekistan in the implementation of structural reforms and is ready to further provide financial support for the modernization of the economy.

The parties also discussed issues of implementing social and grant projects in Uzbekistan, especially for the development of mahallas, improving living conditions in rural areas, strengthening the material-technical base of healthcare institutions, improving social conditions in the Aral Sea region.

Following the talks, the main priority areas of cooperation were identified, an agreement was reached on further elaboration of issues in the areas of interest.
