Ambassador of Uzbekistan Javlon Vakhabov has held talks with the President of Mississippi College Blake Thompson.

The parties discussed priority areas of mutually beneficial cooperation, organization of training of Uzbekistan youth at Mississippi College, as well as prospects for establishing a partnership with universities in Uzbekistan.

The Ambassador briefed about the reforms in Uzbekistan’s higher education system. Special attention was paid to the conditions created for the opening of branches of foreign universities in Uzbekistan, the establishment of direct inter-university partnerships, the introduction of modern and innovative approaches to training in domestic universities, the expansion of access to education, as well as the active support of gifted youth by the state through the allocation of grants for education in both local and top-500 foreign universities.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue negotiations on such areas as training Uzbekistan teachers in higher education at the Mississippi College, the joint development of new curricula in various educational areas, the wide participation of Uzbekistan professors and teachers in scientific workshops, conferences and symposiums at the Mississippi College, the participation of teachers and students in exchange and training programs, the invitation of teachers and professors of the American side to Uzbekistan.
