Ambassador of Uzbekistan Ravshan Usmanov visited the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and met with Deputy Rector of the University Ahmad Faris Ismail.
During the talks, the parties discussed issues of further intensification of cooperation between the IIUM and higher education institutions of Uzbekistan, as well as filling in practical projects of previously signed documents on cooperation.
The “Register of foreign manuscripts related to Uzbekistan”, published by the Department of Research of Cultural Values abroad on the History and Culture of Uzbekistan of the Agency for Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan and the first edition of the book “Jomi ahkom as-sigor” (“Code of Children's Rights”) by Muhammad Ustrushani in Uzbek were also presented. The collection of books was transferred to the library fund of the university.
The Malaysian side highly appreciated the large-scale reforms in education and religious education in Uzbekistan, the measures taken in recent years to study and promote the centuries-old spiritual and intellectual heritage of the country.
At the meeting, the Malaysian University expressed interest in conducting joint research on the intellectual heritage of Islamic civilization, publishing research results and scientific papers, exchanging faculty and students, organizing conferences, workshops and online lectures, exchanging literature, as well as translating the Uzbek edition of “Jomi ahkom as-sigor” into Malay.
Following the talks, an agreement was reached on the development of joint educational programs on Islamic economics and finance, tourism, information technology.
