Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania Daniel Christian Ciobanu made a trip to Hazrat Sultan in Kashkadarya region.
Climbing to the top of 4083 meters is a kind of important event within the framework of the celebration of the 160th anniversary of Romanian diplomacy: recently, on July 27, the country celebrated the 160th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the name “Department of Foreign and State Affairs”.
The event is also dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In Hazrat Sultan, the Ambassador of Romania recorded a short video in Uzbek with a holiday greeting. Ambassador Daniel Christian Ciobanu expressed his good wishes to the Uzbekistan people.
Strengthening interaction with Uzbekistan in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and educational fields is among the priority interests of Romania in Central Asia. The ongoing reforms in the country open up good prospects for enhancing dialogue and contact between the two countries in all areas. Romania will also continue to support the strengthening of cooperation between the European Union and Uzbekistan.
Mr. Ciobanu is the first Ambassador who successfully climbed the Hazrat Sultan peak. In 2021, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, he climbed to the top of Big Chimgan – 3309 meters. From 2011 to 2016, Daniel Christian Ciobanu was the Ambassador of Romania to Azerbaijan. Under his leadership, the Embassy of this country in Baku acted as the NATO Contact Point Embassy in Azerbaijan.
