Alisher Usmanov has been re-elected for a fourth term as President of the International Fencing Federation (FIE) during the Elective Congress in Lausanne in Switzerland. He was first elected as President of FIE in 2008.

International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach said: “I congratulate my friend Alisher Usmanov on his re-election as FIE President. Mr. Usmanov was instrumental in developing fencing all over the world, and I am confident that under his leadership this wonderful Olympic sport will continue its further development”.

According to the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, according to the results of the voting, our compatriots were included in several structural divisions of the organization. Secretary-General of Uzbekistan Fencing Federation Gulnara Saidova was included in the Promotion Commission, and Aida Khasanova, who was a referee at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, was included in the Refereeing Commission.

A presentation of Tashkent, a candidate to host the 2023 World Cup, took place. The presentation was conducted by Uzbekistan NOC Chairman Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov and Gulnara Saidova. Despite the interest of many participants, the championship will be held in Milan.
