On June 20, in Beijing, as part of a reception timed to coincide with the Day of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, a solemn presentation of certificates conferring the honorary title “SCO Goodwill Ambassador” to representatives of the relevant SCO member states took place.

According to the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has appointed the Chairman of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan Akmal Nuriddinov as the Goodwill Ambassador of the SCO from Uzbekistan. Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Zhang Ming presented him with a certificate.

The event was attended by ambassadors, permanent representatives of the SCO member states, representatives of Chinese government departments, leadership and staff of the Secretariat.

The initiative to introduce the honorary title “SCO Goodwill Ambassador” was put forward by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in 2021. During the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO Member States in Samarkand in 2022, the relevant Regulation was approved, which outlines the main powers, functional duties and financial rules for the activities of the SCO Goodwill Ambassador.
