Agreements signed between Uzbekistan and Korea

On December 16, 2021, two new project agreements in preschool education and information technology were signed in Seoul, the Republic of Korea, between the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Ministry of Preschool Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan as well as Technology Park of Software and IT (IT Park) under the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The event that took place within the framework of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to the Republic of Korea, was attended by Vice-President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency Im Jeong Hee, the Minister for Preschool Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan Agrippina Shin, the Minister for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov and CEO for IT Park Farkhad Ibragimov

KOICA will implement two new projects including “Project for Capacity Building of Early Childhood Teachers (ECT) through the Establishment of Teaching, Learning and Development (TLD) Complex in Uzbekistan” ($11.0 million/2021-2026) with the Ministry of Preschool Education and the “Project for Support for Foundation and Capacity Development for Sustainable Growth of IT Park in Uzbekistan” ($4.5 million/2021-2025) with IT Park.

The main objectives of the project with the Ministry of Preschool education are to resolve the gap in quality of education through re-education of early childhood teachers, the establishment of the Experience Center in Uzbekistan and providing quality preschool education services through the establishment of the Model Preschool Educational Organization.

The main objectives of the project with IT Park are to establish the foundation for the growth of the Uzbekistan IT industry and enhance the competitiveness of IT companies, strengthening institutional capabilities through the establishment of operation and management strategy. 

At the meeting,  the parties discussed the plans for the implementation of joint projects and agreed to strengthen cooperation in preschool education and information technologies.
