At the Global Investment Forum, held as part of the 25th session of the UNWTO General Assembly in Samarkand, the Hokim of Bukhara region Botir Zaripov met with the CEO of Abbas Abad Cultural and Tourism Complex in Tehran, Seyed Mohammad Hossein Hejazi, and the Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Housing and Land Use Planning, the Minister of Tourism of Mauritius, Louis Steven Obeegadoo.
A meeting was also held with ministers, deputy ministers, advisors, and experts of the tourism sector who arrived from Russia, China, Qatar, Indonesia, Singapore, Canada, Austria, Germany, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, Venezuela, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.
Five investment agreements were signed to develop the tourism infrastructure further and build new tourist facilities in Bukhara region. An agreement was reached to attract 500 thousand foreign tourists to the region in 2023-2024. With foreign travel companies, memorandums were signed to attract 50 thousand tourists from Tajikistan, 30 thousand from Kyrgyzstan, 28 thousand from Turkmenistan, 30 thousand from China, and 25 thousand from Indonesia to the region in 2024.
