Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov has met with the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Shinichi Kitaoka.
The parties discussed issues and prospects for enhancing financial, technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
The Japanese side expressed interest in enhancing cooperation in the agricultural sector through the implementation of new projects aimed at increasing the production and export potential of Uzbekistan’s horticultural sector.

The issues of the implementation of the second phase of the project “Development of the value added chain in the horticultural sector in Uzbekistan” for an additional amount of $200 million were considered.
The parties paid special attention to the joint measures for enhancing the development of rural areas and creating new jobs.

An agreement was reached on JICA’s assistance in attracting leading Japanese companies to implement joint projects in specific sectors of Uzbekistan economy using advanced Japanese experience and technologies.
