Ambassador of Uzbekistan Ulugbek Maksudov has held talks with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACWA Power (Saudi Arabia), Co-Chairman of Saudi Arabia – Uzbekistan Business Council Mohammad Abunayyan.

The parties discussed the issue of starting practical work on the construction of a thermal power plant with a capacity of about 1,500 MW worth $1.2 billion in Syrdarya region’s Shirin city, as well as two wind power plants with a total capacity of 1 GW ($1.3 billion) in Bukhara region.

ACWA Power Chairman shared his intention to expand his participation in Uzbekistan through the implementation of new large-scale investment projects, and soon – to build new wind power plants in Karakalpakstan.

It was noted that ACWA Power became a company that opened the gates of economic relations between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia.

Issues related to the upcoming visit of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov to Saudi Arabia were discussed at the meeting. During the visit, the parties will hold the 4th meeting of Uzbekistan – Saudi Arabia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economy, Science and Technology, Culture, Sports and Youth.
