At polling station No 18 in the town of Karshi, a training seminar has taken place on the effective work organization of precinct electoral commissions for the elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.The event was attended by experts and members of Qashqadaryo district electoral commission No 13, officials of the region’s justice, emergency situations and internal affairs departments as well as the regional territorial department of the independent institute for monitoring civil society formation, the leaders of organizational-control groups of town and district hokimiyats (governors’ offices), the chairmen and secretaries of precinct electoral commissions and journalists.
It was noted during the event that special attention was being paid to the issue of the effective organization of the work of precinct electoral commissions for the elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
“In the region, 884 electoral precincts have been formed for the elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and their composition has been confirmed. The role of precinct electoral commissions is of important significance to the preparation and conduct of the elections,” says the chairman of Qashqadaryo district electoral commission No 13. I.Jorayev.
At the seminar, speeches were heard on such subjects as “The legal basis of the national electoral system created in Uzbekistan”, “Civil society institutions’ participation in electoral processes”, “Mass media’s role in ensuring the transparency of elections” and “Ensuring safety measures at polling stations”.
During the event, there was an exchange of opinions on keeping the public informed about the process of preparation for the elections and about propagation and explanatory work directed towards raising the knowledge of people about the electoral legislation, especially that of young people who are going to vote for the first time.
