At the Tashkent city territorial department of the independent institute for monitoring civil society formation, a round-table conversation has taken place on results of the country’s socio-economic development in 2016 and the most important priority areas of its economic development programme for the year 2017.The event was attended by representatives of the Tashkent city mayor’s office, the justice department, the women’s committee, political parties, the Mahalla (neighbourhood) public charity foundation, the Kamolot public youth movement and nongovernmental non-commercial organizations.
There was discussion about tasks specified in a speech of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the extended session of the Cabinet of Ministers on results of the country’s socio-economic development in the year 2016 and the most important priority areas of its economic development programme for the year 2017.
Also, proposals and recommendations were expressed on the draft strategy of action in five priority areas of the development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021.
Experts and specialists discussed priority areas of the further raising of the roles of political parties and deputies of the chambers of Oliy Majlis (parliament) in the extension of democratic reforms and the modernization of the country, and the effect of laws being adopted on the pace of implementation of socio-political, socio-economic and judicial reforms.
“The declaration of the year 2017 as the Year of Dialogue with the People and Human Interests places a big responsibility on political parties and institutions for civil society study. For the purpose of the timely implementation of tasks set in this area, specific programmes are being drawn up at our institute for the introduction of new mechanisms and effective methods of dialogue with the people for resolving various social problems and further developing the activity of law making,” says Behzod Sultanov, a chief specialist of the Tashkent city territorial department of the independent institute for monitoring civil society formation.
During the round-table conversation, there was a detailed discussion about tasks directed towards further improving the system of social security for the population and the sphere of health care.
