About forty documents are harmonized with WTO agreements
16:41 / 2024-06-02

Uzbekistan has adopted several regulatory documents to harmonize national legislation with agreements of the World Trade Organization (WTO). About forty papers are brought into compliance with WTO agreements.

In particular, in accordance with the National Treatment principle of the WTO, the size of the state duty established for local and foreign entities for state registration of business entities and intellectual property objects has been unified.

In addition, since creating a special department in the Ministry of Justice for harmonizing national legislation with WTO agreements, more than 700 draft legislative documents have been reviewed for compliance with WTO rules.

This was discussed at a recent conference at the Ministry of Justice dedicated to harmonizing national legislation with WTO agreements.

Deputy Minister of Justice Alisher Karimov noted that by the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, departments on WTO issues were created in the Ministry of Justice and more than 20 ministries and agencies. They are constantly working to harmonize national legislation with international standards.

At the event, which was attended by deputies, responsible heads of ministries and agencies, research institutes, and representatives of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, the upcoming work to improve legislation for accession to the WTO was discussed. Thus, it was emphasized that the scientific community should pay special attention to training qualified personnel and improving courses on WTO rules in higher education institutions.
