14:33 / 2022-03-12

The SCO International Half Marathon will be held on March 27 in Tashkent.

As is known, this marathon, which has been held under the auspices of the SCO since 2016, has further strengthened its position, authority and role in the system of international sports organizations and has become one of the most popular sports events at the international level.

Thanks to the initiative, efforts and cooperation of specialists from the Ministry of Sports Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the National Olympic Committee and the Athletics Federation, the SCO International Half Marathon has become a competition that gives rating points for the Olympic Games and World Championships.

This fact alone determines the prestige of the SCO International Half Marathon to be held in Tashkent simultaneously with the Fourth Tashkent International Marathon on the occasion of the nationwide holiday Navruz.

On March 11, a press conference dedicated to the events was held at the Agency for Youth Affairs.

If the previous SCO international half marathons covered representatives of only 3-4 countries and 200-500 participants, then about 2 thousand people from almost 18 countries, about a thousand sports fans, in total over 4 thousand participants will take part in the current competitions.

As noted at the conference, the races will be held at two distances: 42 kilometers 195 meters and 10 kilometers. A time limit will be set for overcoming the intended distance.
