Samarkand State University named after Sharaf Rashidov hosted a meeting with students of the Honored Journalist of Uzbekistan, famous poet and writer Abdusaid Kuchimov.

At the beginning of the event, the Rector of the University, a member of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Rustam Kholmurodov, expressed his opinion about the poet’s poem “Asra” (“Save”), noting that it serves as a kind of call for all our compatriots, especially young people.

At the meeting, Mr. Kuchimov spoke about the changes and reforms taking place in the country today, as well as the attention paid to youth education. He compared the current opportunities available to young men and women with those that existed during his youth.

“The power of the state depends on the stability of its economy, strict policies, self-awareness and mentality of the people”, Abdusaid Kuchimov said. “A nation aware of its identity cannot be defeated. If each of us lives, studies, and works for our Motherland, then Uzbekistan will quickly join the ranks of great countries”.

The poet also read out his poem “Asra”.

At the event, the Director General of Uzbekistan National News Agency Abdusaid Kuchimov was awarded the Honorary Professor of Samarkand State University title.
