It was noted that parties attach great importance to activation and expansion of mutually beneficial partnership in political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres.

The parties exchanged views on the schedule of holding the EU – Central Asia Ministerial Conference on connectivity and sustainable development in the region.

Confidence was expressed in the near completion of the negotiation process on the draft Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and EU, and its adoption during the summit.

EU High Representative supported Uzbekistan's steps towards joining the WTO.

During the talks, special attention was paid to further development of bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation. The parties expressed interest in deepening cooperation in these areas, in particular in economy and innovative development, which is especially relevant against the background of the current situation with COVID-19.

Josep Borrell Fontelles praised the steps taken by the country's leadership to contain the spread of COVID-19 and counteract the consequences of the pandemic, both at national and regional levels.

Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the negotiations.
