Abdulaziz Kamilov receives EU Special Representative for Central Asia

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia Terhi Hakala, who arrived in Tashkent to attend the meeting of the foreign ministers of Central Asia and Italy.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, the results of the bilateral and interregional negotiations with the EU held in November were discussed. Mutual interest was expressed in further development of political, diplomatic, trade, economic and investment cooperation, the expansion of inter-parliamentary ties, as well as the implementation of joint new social projects with the European Union and its member states in the Aral Sea region.

Views were exchanged on the schedule and organizational aspects of upcoming events at various levels and formats, including the holding in Uzbekistan in 2022 of the first ministerial conference of the EU and Central Asia on strengthening connectivity and sustainable development.

Certain issues of the regional and international agenda, including the current situation in Afghanistan were considered.
