On 24 May 2021, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia Peter Burian, Uzbekistan MFA reports.
The Minister congratulated Peter Burian on the successful completion of his mission as the EU Special Representative for Central Asia and noted his personal contribution to the development of relations between Uzbekistan and the EU.
The parties noted with satisfaction the significant intensification of the political dialogue and comprehensive cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union in recent years. Issues of further expansion of constructive cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres were discussed during the talks.
The schedule of the upcoming joint events, including meetings of the European Union – Central Asia High-Level Dialogue on Political and Security Issues, and the Republic of Uzbekistan – European Union Cooperation Council, was considered.
The parties exchanged views on the preparations for the High-Level International Conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities”, to be held on July 15-16, 2021 in Tashkent.
The Head of the EU Delegation to Uzbekistan, Ambassador Charlotte Adrian, attended the talks.
