Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov has met with the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Robert Destro.

On November 17, 2020, Uzbekistan delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Robert Destro, in Washington, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

During the meeting, a substantive conversation was held on promising areas for further development of bilateral cooperation in various fields.

The American side was informed about large-scale reforms carried out in Uzbekistan and results achieved in ensuring fundamental freedoms and human rights, fighting corruption, media freedom, eliminating forced labor and developing civil society institutions.

The American diplomat praised measures taken under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to democratize the country, liberalize society and strengthen the rule of law.

The parties confirmed their commitment to enhancing Uzbekistan – American cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
