Uzbekistan delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov has met with U.S. Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher C. Miller, in Washington.
Promising areas of cooperation in the defense sphere between the two countries were discussed at the meeting.
Christopher Miller thanked Uzbekistan for its leadership in promoting stability and security in Central Asia and reaffirmed that the United States will continue to engage with Uzbekistan to address common security challenges.
The sides reaffirmed their commitment to further advance the peace process in Afghanistan and support the goal of a lasting political settlement. The importance of further enhancing bilateral military cooperation was noted. The parties reaffirmed their intention to continue to closely cooperate on issues such as the fight against terrorism, ensuring border security and building the potential of defense institutions.
