On November 13, 2020, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov had a telephone conversation with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland Pekka Olavi Haavisto, Uzbekistan MFA reports.
The parties discussed the state and prospects of multifaceted Uzbekistan – Finland relations, as well as within the framework of the European Union – Central Asia Format.
The commitment to further develop and strengthen political dialogue between Uzbekistan and Finland was noted. The schedule of the upcoming contacts at various levels was also considered during the conversation.
The Foreign Ministers exchanged views on intensifying cooperation in science, education and training.
The importance of holding regular meetings of Uzbekistan – Finland Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic cooperation in building up bilateral trade-economic and investment relations was emphasized.
Special attention was paid to the issues of joint work on the Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation with the EU and Uzbekistan's obtaining the status of beneficiary under the Generalized System of Preferences Plus (GSP+).
The sides exchanged views on enhancing cooperation on peaceful settlement of the Afghan problem, as well as on other aspects of international and regional agenda.
