Press Service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a briefing in Tashkent.

Information was provided on the events held last week with the participation of the Head of the state. It was noted that on September 6, the Head of the state got acquainted with the presentation of projects in the pharmaceutical industry.

Pharmaceuticals is one of the most profitable industries. According to some sources, the total volume of the pharmaceutical trade in the world in recent years has ranged from $900 billion to a trillion.

Since 2017, the Head of the state has attached great importance to strengthening the pharmaceutical base in the country. The Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry has been established, conditions for the opening of new enterprises engaged in the cultivation, processing and production of medicinal plants created. The production of more than a thousand types of drugs and medical products has been established. The total production volume has almost doubled.

“But this provides the domestic market only by 55 percent”, says the Press Secretary of the President Sherzod Asadov. “Therefore, the President set the task to triple production, to raise the level of supply of the domestic market to 80 percent. For this, 104 projects have been developed, the implementation of which is planned for 2022-2026”.

The Head of the state instructed to increase the cultivation and processing of medicinal plants, which will provide jobs for the population and export products.

Various projects were considered at the presentation, including the research and production cluster “Tashkent Pharma Park”. One of the main tasks is the production of complex-component drugs in the country. The President gave instructions to import the necessary technologies for the production of expensive drugs and produce them in the country.
