The Uzbekistan national team successfully competed at the World Youth U16 Chess Olympiad in Colombia.
At the prestigious international tournament, which was attended by 85 teams from 40 countries, Uzbekistan’s talented chess players won 7 victories and drew twice, winning silver medals.

Uzbekistan’s young chess players were solemnly welcomed at Tashkent International Airport. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Sports Shakhrillo Mahmudov, Deputy Chairman of the Chess Federation of Uzbekistan Komil Sindorov, as well as representatives of the general public. They noted that the competitions in Colombia clearly demonstrated the high level of young chess players’ training in Uzbekistan and the growing authority of Uzbekistan in the international arena.

Following the Olympiad results, Muhammadzoid Suyarov took second place in the individual competition, while Humoyun Bekmurodov took second place. Afruza Khamdamova and Asrorjon Omonov made a worthy contribution to the team victory.

On the eve of the 34th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence, the national team, which performed in a renewed lineup, once again demonstrated the glorious traditions of the Uzbek chess school on the world stage.
