Geneva hosts the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

Within the framework of the prestigious event, the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbayeva, held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Martin Chungong.

The current state and prospects of cooperation between the Parliament of Uzbekistan and the IPU, plans for the future, and issues of further strengthening inter-parliamentary ties were discussed during the conversation.

The parties exchanged views on the implementation of the Tashkent Declaration.

During the meeting, an agreement was signed on holding the 12th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in September 2026 in Samarkand.

This initiative, put forward by the President of Uzbekistan, aims to develop a global dialogue and strengthen interaction between young parliamentarians.

Martin Chungong noted that the agreement is a logical continuation of fruitful cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
