A roundtable discussion on the constitutional reform in Uzbekistan held in Athens

The Embassy of Uzbekistan together with the Friendship Society “Greece – Uzbekistan” organized a roundtable discussion in Athens.

The participants exchanged views on the current issues of bilateral cooperation in culture, education and tourism.

Ambassador Otabek Akbarov informed the participants of the roundtable discussion about the current situation in Uzbekistan, the ongoing large-scale reforms in the political and socio-economic spheres.

The main attention was paid to the ongoing constitutional reform. The participants got acquainted with the essence and content of the proposed amendments and additions to the Basic Law. Information was provided about the process of open and nationwide discussion of the proposed amendments to the Constitution, carried out at the initiative of the leadership of the country.

Representatives of the Friendship Society “Greece – Uzbekistan”, for their part, informed about their activities, ongoing and proposed projects for the development of bilateral cultural, humanitarian and economic cooperation.

Several representatives of the Friendship Group expressed interest in publishing a book called “Marakanda”, which tells about the cultural and historical sights of Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and other cities. To this end, they are planning to visit Uzbekistan in September-October to collect information and materials for the book.
