A roundtable titled “Literary ties between Uzbekistan and Russia” was held in Tashkent to mark the 130th anniversary of the birth of Sergey Yesenin. The event brought together researchers, members of the creative community, and all those who feel a connection to the legacy of the great Russian poet.
Special attention was drawn to the presentation by historian and journalist Boris Golender. He spoke about Yesenin’s visit to Uzbekistan and the creative pages of his Tashkent period, emphasizing the significance of this time in the poet’s life. Adding an emotional touch to the meeting was artist Anna Yesenina, the poet’s great-granddaughter, who presented her book illustrations and shared her personal perspective on her great-grandfather’s legacy.

The program culminated in a poetry reading in the large conference hall of the Russian House. The poet’s lines, familiar and cherished by many, sounded in a new way, filling the space with an atmosphere of sincerity and living poetry.
The roundtable became a platform for open dialogue and creative exchange, discussion of future joint projects, and ways to strengthen cultural ties between Uzbekistan and Russia.
The event was organized in cooperation with the Sergey Yesenin State Literary Museum in Tashkent.
