A ray shining from the depths of centuries
10:50 / 2024-05-02

The event “Architectural Epigraphy of Uzbekistan: A Ray Shining from the Depths of Centuries” took place in the capital’s Renaissance Cinema House.

Scientists, specialists, and representatives of secondary schools and libraries were invited to the event, which was organized jointly with the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan (WOSCU), the Academy of Sciences, and the Abu Rayhan Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies.

The speakers noted that the project “Architectural Epigraphy of Uzbekistan” aims to study, preserve, and popularize Uzbekistan’s cultural and historical heritage. It is implemented by WOSCU, partner organizers, and the government of Uzbekistan, which provides organizational and financial support.

To date, 20 album books have been published in Uzbek, Russian, Arabic, and English, dedicated to all regions of Uzbekistan. Notably, as a result of the project, inscriptions on more than 2,000 architectural monuments of Uzbekistan were translated. Experts have found and studied a huge amount of epigraphic materials in Turkic, Arabic, and Persian, supplementing them with original interpretations and translations.

As noted in the minutes of the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan of January 19, 2024, a total of 220 thousand copies of the 20-volume series “Architectural Epigraphy of Uzbekistan” were published. It is planned to distribute 200 thousand copies (10 thousand sets) of these album books to school libraries. At the media event, attention was paid to ensuring the implementation of this decision.

The documentary film “Architectural Epigraphy of Uzbekistan” was shown at the event. Representatives of all secondary schools and libraries in Tashkent were solemnly presented with certificates for free receipt of 20 volumes of album books from the “Architectural Epigraphy of Uzbekistan” series.
