A decision has been made in Uzbekistan to create the Fergana tourist and recreational zone. The relevant resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to create the Fergana tourist and recreational zone” was adopted on January 12, 2026.
The document aims to effectively use the tourism potential of Fergana region, develop mountainous territories, expand public participation in the service sector and entrepreneurship, and increase the region’s investment attractiveness. The key tasks include the development of a modern tourism infrastructure, the implementation of projects aligned with a master plan, the development of an international resort area, and the creation of new jobs.
According to the resolution, the Fergana tourist and recreational zone is being created for a period of 30 years on an area of 2,396 hectares with the possibility of further extension.
As part of the project, the necessary infrastructure will be created in Fergana region to transform the Vodil agritourist cluster specializing in raspberry cultivation into a full-fledged tourist destination. It is planned to organize service facilities built on lightweight structures on the territory of raspberry plantations, with the involvement of promising entrepreneurs.
In 2026-2027, new jobs will be created in Yazyavan district around the Markaziy Fargona Reservoir through the development of tourism services.
In addition, raspberry plantations will be established on the territories of the Sanoat and Hosilot mahallas of Fergana region to develop agrotourism, as well as cold storage facilities and workshops for the deep processing of products, based on positive foreign experience.
It is expected that the implementation of these initiatives will strengthen the tourism potential of Fergana region, develop agro-industrial cooperation, support entrepreneurship and increase the employment rate of local population.
