Tashkent hosted an international conference on “Development of a sustainable tourism model – a way to increase tourism potential”.
The conference was held as part of the Switch Asia program funded by the European Union, as well as within the framework of the project “Model for sustainable tourism in Central Asia: capacity building, awareness raising, technology adoption”, supported by the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The conference was attended by the EU Ambassador to Uzbekistan Charlotte Adriaen, and the Minister of Natural Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov.
“Today, environmental stability is becoming an important factor in competitiveness in the tourism market”, Aziz Abdukhakimov said. – Increasing environmental awareness, the introduction of international standards, the use of environmentally efficient technologies is considered important part of further development of the tourism industry in the country.

As the Head of state noted, to improve the quality and competitiveness of products, it is necessary to bring national standards in line with international requirements and introduce them to enterprises. If the products do not meet international standards, they will never become competitive.
Ms. Charlotte Adriaen praised the national green economy program of Uzbekistan, noting that the European Union is ready to work in cooperation with Uzbekistan on the path of sustainable green development.
