In recent years, the Writers Union of Uzbekistan has paid special attention to strengthening cultural, educational, and literary collaboration with various countries.

The organization was visited by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan, Beibut Atamkulov.

The meeting was also attended by the Embassy’s Cultural Advisor Serjan Sarsenbayev, protocol officer Almas Aubakirov, and journalists from the Kazakhstan TV channels “Kazakhstan” and “Khabar 24”.

On the Uzbek side, participants included Chairman of the Writers Union Sirojiddin Sayyid, Deputy Chairman Gayrat Majid, leading specialist of the Department for International Relations and Literary Translation Gulobdon Turayeva, and Chairman of the Council for Kazakh Literature under the Union, Tursinali Akhmedov.

During the conversation, the Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the publication of the 100-volume collection “Pearls of Turkic Literature”, in which Kazakh literary works were given a prominent place, as well as for the active participation of the Writers Union of Uzbekistan in the celebration of the birthday of the great Kazakh poet Abai.

In turn, Sirojiddin Sayyid expressed his appreciation for the Kazakh magazine “Tan Sholpan” declaring 2023 the Year of Uzbek Literature and, during that period, translating and publishing works by more than 30 Uzbek poets and writers. He also noted that work is currently underway to publish books by 52 Uzbek authors, including representatives of children’s literature, in the Kazakh language.

It was noted that the book “Secret Trail” by Kazakh writer Kemel Tokayev was translated into Uzbek and presented by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to the President of Kazakhstan. The Uzbek side also participated in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Kemel Tokayev in 2023, and the keen interest of Uzbek translators in the author’s work was highly appreciated.

Following the meeting, the Ambassador was presented with 15 publications of the Writers Union of Uzbekistan and Volume III of the “Anthology of Uzbek Poetry”.
