Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, commented on the significance of the meetings and negotiations held by the President of Uzbekistan during his visit to the United States.
He emphasized that the visit had been highly productive and historic in every regard. According to him, the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan are creating vast opportunities for American businesses, and U.S. companies are currently carrying out large-scale projects in the country.
Mr. Kudratov noted that between 2010 and 2014, he worked at Uzbekistan’s embassy in Washington, where he handled economic affairs. He stated that the interest and engagement of American companies toward Uzbekistan at that time could not be compared to their current enthusiasm and firm commitment to investing in the country. He attributed this shift to the comprehensive reforms undertaken, as well as the President’s personal attention to strengthening economic cooperation and creating new business opportunities.
He noted that the negotiations between the President of Uzbekistan and U.S. President Donald Trump, along with members of the U.S. government and executives of leading American companies, and the roundtable discussions held during the visit could rightfully be called a new chapter in the economic relations between the two countries. He stated that the total value of the projects scheduled for implementation over the next three years would amount to $34.8 billion. These plans include concrete projects in agriculture, mining, and the processing of strategically essential minerals.
He added that particular attention was being given to the introduction of advanced technologies in the automotive and industrial sectors. Based on these developments, he asserted that entirely new business opportunities were emerging. He emphasized that the current priority was to ensure the practical implementation of the agreements reached.
He also mentioned that thanks to the political dialogue established at the highest level between the two heads of state, clear directions had been set for both the U.S. and Uzbekistan governments. He expressed confidence that the first outcomes would already be visible in the coming months, including a visa-free regime and regular air service between the United States and Tashkent. He concluded that the combination of these factors would create a powerful synergistic effect.
