A new building of Ziyo Art Uzbek Language Center opens in New York

The opening ceremony of the new building of Ziyo Art Uzbek Language Center, operating under the diaspora organization Mahalla USA, took place in Brooklyn, New York.

Ziyo Art Uzbek Language Center at the Mahalla USA Public Association was opened in Brooklyn on September 19, 2020, with the aim of teaching Uzbek language and literature to compatriots’ children living in the United States, preserving and strengthening national values in their minds.

This educational center provides classes in Uzbek language and literature, etiquette, the world around us, computer literacy, fine arts, religion, mathematics, and sports clubs in chess, sambo, and wrestling for children from 6 to 15 years old.

Classes in Uzbek are held on weekdays, as well as on Saturdays and Sundays, by qualified teachers selected on a competitive basis, using special educational materials from Uzbekistan.

The new building of the educational center consists of 10 rooms designed for training, its total area is 500 square meters. Currently, 120-150 children study at the center every month.

The President of the Mahalla USA Public Association Abdumalik Akhmedov addressed the opening ceremony.

The event was attended by representatives of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in New York, senators of New York City, congressmen, representatives of local authorities, the Head of Uzbekistan Sambo Federation, leaders and activists of Uzbek diaspora societies in other states, local residents and media.
