A native of Uzbekistan, Renata Shakirova has become the new prima ballerina of the Mariinsky Theatre troupe in Saint Petersburg. This was announced by the acting head of the ballet troupe, Yuri Fateev, TASS reports.
The audience at the performance “Shurale” greeted this news with applause. The ballerina danced the part of the bird girl Syuyumbike.
“Renata is truly a very talented, incredible artist. From her first steps back at school, everyone noted what a bright girl she was. While still a second-year student at the Academy of Russian Ballet [named after A. Y. Vaganova], she already took part in performances of the Mariinsky Theater and danced a solo repertoire on our ballet’s tour in London”, Yuri Fateev said.
Ms. Shakirova was born in Tashkent. In 2015, she graduated from the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet. She performs parts of classical and modern repertoire. In 2016, with Kimin Kim, Shakirova won the “Bolshoi Ballet” project of the “Russia-Culture” TV channel.
