A national report on the state of the environment submitted

The national report on the state of the environment of Uzbekistan was presented at the 14th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS COP14) in Samarkand.

The National Report on the State of the Environment is a comprehensive document reflecting the environmental situation and trends in the country’s socio-economic development. It also provides an overview of relevant policy priorities, strategies, and other documents that set out the course of action to address environmental issues.

The event was attended by the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme Inger Andersen, representatives of international structures, government non-profit organizations and national experts.

The new publications by the Ministry of Ecology – the FAO Guide to Reducing Food Waste and a Presentation on the development of ecotourism and ensuring the sustainability of nature in Uzbekistan: tips for tour operators, local authorities, and visitors were highlighted at the event.

A ceremony dedicated to the launch of a joint 11-million-euro regional grant project with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) took place.
