The Senate of the Oliy Majlis hosted a meeting with a mission of experts from the Global Reporting Initiative.

The parties exchanged views on the activities of the Senate in such areas as budget consideration, conducting control and analytical activities, studying the socio-economic development of the regions, listening to reports and information from government members, and on the process of implementing the national Sustainable Development Goals.

Of particular interest to the guests was the expansion of powers and strengthening of the role of the Senate in accordance with the renewed Constitution, its participation in the process of formation and implementation of national strategies of the country, the involvement of deputies of local Councils in the development of state and regional programs.

The experts were also interested in the procedure and timing of meetings of the committees of the Senate and Councils, methods of collecting data during monitoring, and the activities of expert groups organized under each committee of the Senate.
