A meeting with Russia’s leading cinematographer

Within the framework of PROlogue 2018 International Film Festival in Tashkent, a meeting was held with the leading Russian cinematographer, actor, director, screenwriter and producer Vladimir Menshov, at the Youth Creativity Palace.

Born in 1939 in Baku, V.Menshov passed a long and difficult path in an amazing, but at the same time complex world of cinema. He studied at the school-studio named after V.Nemirovich-Danchenko at Moscow Art Academic Theater, graduated from the directing department of the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography. There are more than 70 roles in his acting biography. The audience especially warmly accepted the roles played by Vladimir Valentinovich in the films “Where is the nofelet?”, “The Year of the Calf”, “The General”, “Saboteur. The End of War”, “Liquidation”.

“Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears” film, created by him as a director in 1979, was awarded the most prestigious Oscar film award in 1981. This film is about the life of ordinary people, their problems and ways to overcome them, it was watched by 90 million viewers.

It is worth noting that V.Menshov is a regular and favorite guest of international festivals that are held in Uzbekistan.

– At present, the cinematography of the East manifests itself more and is becoming stronger, – says V.Menshov. – The youth who want to achieve success in cinematography, I advise to go to the theater more often. Because life rages in the theater. The theater gives impetus to the creative search. In cinematography, it is very important to identify and maintain talents. It is noteworthy that PROlogue International Film Festival serves to achieving such goals.

On the next day of the film festival, a conference “Cinematographer and youth”, an international competition of feature films, a master class with participation of a talented Russian cameraman Sergey Astakhov was held.
