A meeting takes place with an observer mission

The Central Election Commission hosted a meeting with representatives of the election observation mission for the 9 July early presidential election in Uzbekistan.

At the meeting, CEC Chairman Z. Nizamkhodjayev talked with the Head of the Mission, Ambassador Urszula Gacek, her deputy Oleksii Lychkovakh, mission experts Anna Melikyan and Maša Janjušević.

Informing about the preparation process for the presidential elections, Z. Nizamkhodjayev noted that these days the election campaign is becoming more intense, this responsible process is consistently coordinated by the Central Election Commission in the manner prescribed by the Election Code.

In particular, it was noted that by the calendar plan for holding elections for the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 14 district and 10,783 precinct election commissions have been formed. A press center and a Center for Operative Information have been established under the Central Election Commission, 299 media representatives have been accredited, and other events are being held jointly with partner organizations.

At the meeting, special attention was paid to implementing the recommendations of the OSCE/ODIHR election observation missions in Uzbekistan in our national legislation and practice and improving the legal framework for elections.

According to the Head of Mission, Ambassador Urszula Gacek, representatives of the ODIHR core mission team will be composed of experienced experts, including political, legal, media, and election analysts, ODIHR staff, and consultants. She also said that in addition to the core group of experts, long-term observers would also be included in the mission.
