17:27 / 2023-05-01

In 2018, Uzbekistan – China onion garden was created in Tashkent Botanical Garden, which now grows more than 100 types of onions belonging to the flora of Central Asia, China, Iran, the Caucasus and the Mediterranean Sea.

Researchers from the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Tashkent Botanical Garden and the Kunming Institute of Botany of the Chinese Academy of Sciences participated in its creation.

The garden has a small collection of onion varieties consumed in Uzbekistan. They attract the attention of specialists in agriculture and food products. With the support of Chinese scientists, special labels were ordered for more than 100 types of onions. Each label contains the Latin name of the species, a QR code containing information about the name of the plant, its distribution area and its features.
