A formula recognized by the world – the triumph of strong friendship in Central Asia
12:08 / 2025-12-22

At present, the Central Asian region is in the spotlight of the global community. This attention is linked not only to geopolitical processes, but also to the entirely new political atmosphere that has taken shape in the region – one based on mutual trust and cooperation. The awarding of the Leo Tolstoy International Peace Prize to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, and the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon represents a high level of recognition of the positive changes taking place in the region.

This prestigious award was not granted by chance. The signing on March 31, 2025, in Khujand of the Treaty on the Junction Point of State Borders and the Declaration on Eternal Friendship marked a new chapter in the region’s history. In world diplomacy, it is rare for border issues that have remained unresolved for decades and, at times, have led to conflicts, to be settled through dialogue and mutual interests. In this process, a key role has been played by the regional policy of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in “breaking the ice” and elevating relations with neighboring countries to the level of strategic partnership.

According to international experts, the Khujand agreements serve as a guarantee of stability not only for these three countries, but for the entire Eurasian continent. As political analysts note, Uzbekistan’s initiative has transformed Central Asia from a “problem zone” into a “space of opportunities”. Economic indicators also confirm this: in recent years, intraregional trade has increased severalfold, joint industrial zones have been established, and major transport corridors have been launched. Today, the economies of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan form a single, complementary chain that improves the well-being of millions of people.

The fact that the Leo Tolstoy Peace Prize is grounded in humanitarian ideals also carries profound meaning. This award reflects not only the political authority of the leaders of the three states, but also their significant responsibility for peace among their peoples and for the well-being of future generations. Recognized by the international community, the Khujand Declaration underscores the primacy of international law and demonstrates that dialogue and good-neighborly relations are the most appropriate path to ensuring common and equal security. Restoring historical ties among brotherly peoples and expanding cultural and humanitarian links further strengthen the region’s spiritual unity.

Today, Central Asia is determining its destiny independently. Uzbekistan’s peaceful foreign policy and decisive steps toward regional integration have transformed the principle of eternal friendship from a mere slogan into a reality of everyday life. The Khujand agreements and their international recognition attest that regional cooperation has entered an irreversible phase and that substantial productive work remains ahead.
