A fish farming cluster to be created jointly with Hungary

A delegation led by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Uzbekistan József Rózsa visited Surkhandarya region and got acquainted with the investment potential of the oasis in tourism, livestock, and fish farming.

The Hokim of Surkhandarya region Ulugbek Qosimov received the guests.

At the meeting, it was noted that a multifaceted strategic partnership has been rapidly developing between Uzbekistan and Hungary in recent years. It was pointed out that the ancient historical ties of our peoples are an essential foundation for strengthening friendship and cooperation.

At the meeting in the Regional Hokimiyat, views were exchanged on cooperation with Hungary in trade, economics, investment, tourism, education, and other fields. Issues regarding the implementation of new projects together with leading poultry and fish farming companies of a friendly country were discussed. The possibilities of applying the best practices of Hungarian fishermen in growing products and further developing ecotourism and hunting tourism in Surkhandarya region, effectively using the existing high potential of the region, were considered.

Members of the delegation talked with the heads of fish farming farms in Termez district and got acquainted with their activities. The parties agreed to bring 5 million fingerlings from Hungary and create a fish farming cluster in the district.

Members of the delegation got acquainted with the ecotourism potential of reservoirs Oqtepa in Jarkurgan district, Tupalang in Sariasiya district, their natural landscapes, and the work carried out in these territories. The guests were presented with the project “Pomir Agrocluster”, which is planned to be implemented at the Oqtepa reservoir, and “To'palang HPD Holding”, which will be implemented at the Tupalang reservoir. In particular, the project planned for launch at Oqtepa reservoir will allow growing up to 25 thousand tons of fish annually. And a project worth 15 billion UZS will be implemented at Tupalang reservoir. Suggestions and recommendations were made for even more effective use of the rich potential of these territories.
