A Memorandum of Cooperation on the creation of a film about the beloved poet, writer, playwright, and outstanding scientist of Uzbekistan people, Maqsud Sheikhzade, was signed between the Cinematography Agency under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Cinema Agency of Azerbaijan within the framework of the Uzbekistan Science and Culture Days held in this country.

The memorandum was signed by the Director of the Cinematography Agency, Firdavs Abdukhalikov, and the Director of the Cinema Agency under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Orhan Fikretoglu.

“In 2023, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev put forward the initiative to create films of the “Living History” series dedicated to the life and work of historical figures of our country”, Firdavs Abdukhalikov said. “The joint film project “Maqsud Sheikhzade” is one of the projects included in the 7-year program”.

This film production will take its place in the hearts of the peoples of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan and will contribute to strengthening cultural ties.

“We are very pleased with the news and reforms in Uzbek cinema, and interest in Uzbek films is growing”, Orhan Fikretoglu said. “Of course, such positive reforms in your domestic cinema are due to the attention and support of your President. We plan to work on other projects in cooperation with Uzbekistan cinematographers”.
