10:46 / 2023-09-04

The Craftsmen Center has been opened in the citizens’ assembly of “Kalaynav” mahalla of Rishtan district of Fergana region.

The complex, built as part of the implementation of the resolution of the President of the country “On measures for the accelerated development and support of pottery” of March 23, 2021, became the third center of artisans built in Rishtan district. Pottery mahallas were also equipped to expand the scale of the sphere, which is the driver of the district’s economy.

Speaking at the event on the center’s opening, the Hokim of the region Khayrullo Bozorov noted that pottery in the district is developing at an accelerated pace and drew attention to the need to organize a wholesale market for pottery. It was also emphasized that the organized centers of artisans should attract foreign tourists and a wide range of consumers and the local population.

The commissioned 2-storey center, named after Ibrokhimjon Komilov, a famous potter in the seventh generation, occupies 0.8 hectares of area. The project cost was 2.4 billion UZS, and Uzsanoatqurilishbank allocated a soft loan for 20 years.

The main part of the artisans are young people under 30, who are also involved in training more than 130 apprentices.

Previously, potters worked at home, but now all the necessary conditions have been created. On the center’s first floor, there are workshops and shops, and on the second floor, there are apartments for artisans with their families (16 total). The participants got acquainted with the conditions created there after the celebrations on the occasion of the center’s opening.
