A briefing was held at the Press Center of the Central Election Commission with the participation of the Chairman of the Central Election Commission Zayniddin Nizomkhojayev. The CEC Chairman presented information on the preparatory process for the elections and the beginning of the voting process.
“Today at 8:00 in the morning at all polling stations organized in our country, the National Anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan sounded, and voters started voting”, said Z. Nizomkhojayev. – In addition, 56 polling stations, established at 39 representative offices of the Republic of Uzbekistan in foreign countries, began their work. First, voting began at polling stations established at the representative offices of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Japan, South Korea, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, India, and the Far East (Russia).
Uninterrupted communication of the Central Election Commission with all constituencies and polling stations has been established. More than 19.5 million voters are on the voter list this year.
At the same time, the Chairman informed about international observers. It was noted that about 800 observers from 15 international organizations and foreign countries are directly participating in this political event.
More than 53,000 local observers from political parties that have nominated their candidates for the Presidency and from civil society institutions are observing the elections. Elections are covered by 1,400 representatives of local and foreign media.
