On the initiative of the Russian House, a presentation of the book “Russia and Central Asia: History and Culture”, prepared by Rossotrudnichestvo and Runivers Publishing House, took place in Tashkent.
The event was attended by Irina Staroselskaya, Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in Uzbekistan, Vasily Kostetsky, author of textbooks on the history of Uzbekistan, Shokhrukh Choriyev, senior researcher at the National Center of Archaeology, Tatiana Katyukova, leading researcher at the Institute of World History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Daria Saprynskaya, researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Ms. Staroselskaya stressed that the Russian House in Tashkent remains an open platform for cooperation, and history and culture unite the countries. The participants discussed ways to popularize historical information among young people and strengthen good neighborliness between Russia and Uzbekistan.
According to Mr. Kostetsky, the publication demonstrates Russia’s and Uzbekistan’s contributions to bilateral cooperation and will undoubtedly interest the younger generation, helping them better perceive and analyze history.
Mr. Choriyev noted that the book presents a chronology of events, covering history, science, culture, geography, and economics, thereby contributing to the preservation of historical truth amid an abundance of information sources.
The publication “Russia and Central Asia: History and Culture” became the first in a series of Rossotrudnichestvo projects devoted to the 100th anniversary of people’s diplomacy. The book describes essential events involving Russia. It will be part of the expositions of Russian houses in Kazakhstan and other countries of the region, and will also be used for educational events.
