Ahmad Tarabik, Deputy Director of the Center for Asian Studies, Cairo University (Egypt):
“I have participated as an observer in the parliamentary elections held in Uzbekistan on 21 December 2014, and was impressed by their conduct on the basis of democratic principles. During the open election, your people voted for the most deserving candidates. After the elections, I expressed my opinion on this matter to the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and on my return to Egypt – to my countrymen.
Glad to have the opportunity to observe the election of the President of Uzbekistan, too. After reviewing the progress of the election campaign, the activities of district and precinct election commissions, I can confidently say that the March 29 elections will be held actively and at a high organizational level. For that, your country has the potential, and voters – high legal culture.”
Lugbauer Herbert, President of the Austrian-Uzbek Friendship Society, Managing Director of the company Askin & Co (Austria):
“Heard a lot about Samarkand and knew that this city is the center of high civilization and culture. I was amazed when I visited the city. Samarkand is much more beautiful than I imagined. Many historical monuments and places of interest surprised me. After receiving information about the history of the construction of these ancient structures, rare historic items stored in them, convinced how ancient and rich is the history of the Uzbek people. Above all, this cultural richness in its original form is transmitted from generation to generation.
I promised myself to come to this city one more time and see all the historical monuments. Today, we arrived in Samarkand by modern high-speed train Afrosiyob. This is a very convenient train with a high level of service.”
Laode Kamaluddin, Chairman of Rectors' Forum of Indonesia:
“I appreciate the preparations for the presidential election being conducted in Uzbekistan. All the organizational works carried out on the basis of the established requirements. I have visited a number of polling stations created in Tashkent and Samarkand. They feature all the facilities and amenities. I was particularly interested in the mother and child room, medical room. This is a clear reflection of that human health, protection of motherhood and childhood, are one of the main directions of the state policy in your country.”
David Armstrong, Editor-in-Chief at Earth Times online magazine (Great Britain):
“The preparations for the elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan conducted in an orderly manner, in accordance with international standards.
Impressed the equal conditions and opportunities created for presidential candidates for the election campaign – one of the important processes of elections. Equal air time and print space provided for election campaigning through the mass media. Only this fact can evidence that the elections in Uzbekistan are carried out on the basis of international standards, respecting the principles of democracy.
Amazing and beautiful are the historical monuments and modern buildings of Samarkand.”
